new paragraphThe history...new paragraph
new paragraphAlthough starting out with Amiga computers, I experienced some difficulty since Commodore had gone out of business, in trying to gain access to the internet using my A4000. It wasnt that the A4000 wasnt upto the job, it just didnt have the software available, and what was around wasnt very well supported. >:*(
Then, in January 1996, I finally decided to go out an by my first PC computer.
Here`s some of the software I use with my two PC`s.

new paragraphThat 486 has lasted me a few years now but in August 1998, I finally decided to upgrade to my current P333 II MMx which is mainly used for internet access amongst other things.

new paragraphThe 486...new paragraph
Picture of Chez`s 486 computernew paragraphThis is where the 486 now lives, within my video edit suite, although you can probably only see the keyboard - its the topmost of the two. The lower keyboard is my A1200 computer.

new paragraphI originally bought the 486 as a result of getting very frustrated at trying to use my older Amiga A4000 to access the internet. Internet providers are very loathed to cater for the Amiga with the exception of Demon Internet.
I have never enjoyed using PC computers which I have encountered at work, but that said, I felt that I had to buy myself a PC as the easier way of making the most of my internet account with Demon.

new paragraphAnd so, I bought the Escom 486 dx2/66 in January 1996 and I guess that was the start of my downfall >:*(

new paragraphI bought mself a copy of Netmanage`s Internet Chamaeleon, which I used for my main access to the internet, although Ive since changed to using Netscape`s navigator suite of programs.

new paragraphToday, the 486 is now fitted with 32Mb of RAM, 1.7Gb hard drive and a 4x speed CD drive. I also have a Soundblaster audio card along with one of Iomega`s
Zip drives and is running Windoze95.

new paragraphThe P333 II MMx...new paragraph
new paragraphAugust 1998 saw the arrival of my latest PC, which is an Advent P333 II MMx which is kept in my bedroom along with my Amiga A4000. This P333 has since taken over most of the things I used the older 486for, including my internet access, DTP and graphics projects.

new paragraphWhen bought, the P333 had 64Mb of RAM, with a 6Gb hard drive and 32x CD drive along with Windoze98, but has been upgraded over time to 128Mb RAM, a CD Writer drive as well as a DVDrom drive too.

new paragraphIve since added the Wacom graphics tablet and Scantak A4 flatbed scanner as well as Iomega`s
Zip and Ditto drives from my old 486 PC. New to this PC though, is my Phillip`s CD writer, and Hauppage`s video capture card - and you can find a sample .AVI file on my video page.
Ive also fitted a Creative DVD drive too but is only for watching DVD movies, since I dont like games too much... and Im crap at them anyway. Boo hoo >:*(
My latest add-on is a Sandisk Compact Flash card reader which makes use of the computers USB port and reads the "discs" from my Casio digital camera.
